My dad is one of the best dads in the world.
Many of my friends prefer to be at our house instead of theirs because of my dad. He is an amazing dad, but as a boss, I don’t like him. I went to HVAC school and got my certification and then I went to work at my dad’s HVAC company. He was always so good with his other technicians, but he was really rough on me. The first couple of weeks I was there, he made me ghost him so I could learn to make HVAC repairs the right way. When I tried to mimic his moves, he got mad at me and yelled. I don’t know how many times he told me to pay attention and listen to him. I was paying attention, and I was listening, but if I couldn’t do the job, I would not learn. I asked him to stand back and watch me repair an air conditioning unit. He had to be in my face and his hands next to me. He didn’t trust me to make the repair if he wasn’t right there within inches of me. Before we got to the second AC repair, I asked him to leave me in the service van. I didn’t want to look like a fool every time I got out of the HVAC service van, and that was what he was doing to me. He said he was only trying to teach me. I worried that the way he was teaching was going to keep our customers to not trust my ability as an HVAC tech. I thought that when they saw me coming and my dad wasn’t with me, they would call and ask for another HVAC technician.
