I have a commercial property for my Heating, Ventilation and A/C appliance contracting business.
I have security cameras all around throughout the parking lot so security is able to monitor the building.
We’ve had a couple of break-ins from time to time. The very last one honestly was significant. The thieves got away with practically $5,000 worth of heating and AC appliances. That’s when I decided to install the CCTVs and video surveillance equipment. I have alarms on the warehouses and buildings, but I do not have any alarms on the chain link fence that honestly protects the property! My employees all have a key to the chain link fence so they can move freely in and out of the parking lot and parts and resource building… A security officer reached out to me on Thursday. It was 4:30 in the morning hours… He told me that someone was genuinely sleeping on the property in a vehicle. It was extremely suspicious to have someone there so early and the security officer asked me if I knew anyone that owned a Honda Accord. I did not know any of my employees drove a car, so I told the security officer to check everything out and I got dressed and headed over to the property. By the time I arrived, the security guard was actually getting ready to give me a call. The guy sleeping in the vehicle turned out to be a single of my employees. He had gotten into a severe argument with his guy and he kicked him out of the dwelling. He only had keys to the vehicle and he didn’t have another place to go. He decided to sleep in the parking lot because he knew it was a relatively safe locale to get some rest.
