Sometimes I’m amazed at the excuses that people make up for themselves.
It seems like people always want to say that they can’t do things rather than they don’t want to do things.
Which seems backwards to me. I don’t know why you would make yourself incapable voluntarily. Anyways I feel like it’s a form of removing responsibility to take the easy way out. I’ve been seeing a lot of that lately… especially with the people that I work with. A lot of them are pretty unhealthy and don’t try very hard to get back in shape. But no matter what time of year it is they have a reason why it’s the weather’s fault that they are out of condition. This time of year everyone is saying that it’s just too damn hot to step outside and work up a sweat. In fact they often say it’s too hot to be outside and do just about anything – let alone get some exercise. They seriously insist that if they tried to jog around the block there would be certain overheating and near-death from the overwhelming heat of the brilliant sun. I hate to tell them that there are a lot of options besides running around in the direct sunlight. Of course that feels terrible. But what about working out in a gym where there’s ac? isn’t that still an option? If you can’t stand going to the gym but you need the air conditioning how about you invest in some home workout videos. Then you can just blast your own air conditioning as high as you want. You can even blow some fans around to make it feel cooler and fresher – you are in complete control. If none of that sounds like a good option to you then you could do what I do and just go run around in the woods. I swear, the shade is like natural air conditioning. No matter what your preference is, you can find a way to get exercise in the summer without killing yourself in the heat.
