Our space heating system caught our new home on fire… I am so frustrated about the whole ordeal, so it is quite hard to talk about.
I am so thankful that no a single was new home at the time, you see, I have always used a space heating system in my study room, plus I never even thought twice about it.
Yes, I had heard stories about space gas gas furnaces catching fire, but I never thought that it would happen to me. I felt so disappointing after I found out that the space heating system was what caught the new home on fire. I usually turned the space heating system off when I got up in the mornings, but the afternoon of the fire, I forgot to turn the space heating system off. It was a crucial mistake, but I apparently did not realize it at the time! The space heating system was old, plus the outlet that I had it blocked into was quite outdated as well. I don’t guess that it was made to pull that much electricity. I knew that I should have had it replaced, but I just kept putting it off because I did not want to have to take the time to bother with it. Well, every one of us would still have a new home if I would have replaced that outlet. I guess I don’t feel that for sure, but it is likely. The fire department told myself and others that they guess that the fire started in the wall right behind the outlet that the space heating system was blocked into. I will never use a space heating system again. That is for sure.
