The electric bill has that summertime glow to it once again.
That is the glow of our money getting sucked from our wallet.
There is just something about writing that utility check that breaks myself and others down. I remember our dad always yelling at us to keep the door shut when the air conditioner was on. He would get livid when I left a door ajar during the summer time months. He also provided myself and others the money doesn’t grow on trees lecture. But that guy would be spinning in his grave if he was witness to the amount I am paying to heat & cool our home. It came to myself and others the other day that I could be doing way more to get the energy bill down. Our Heating & Air Conditioning plan is fairly modern so, I guess it has a undoubtedly high SEER number. So, heating & cooling unit efficiency in not at all the issue. Those living inside the modern home are the issue. That led us to making some real, tangible changes. The two of us installed a smart thermostat to better manage the Heating & Air Conditioning use far more precisely. The two of us even purchased some automatic blinds to sync with the modern thermostat. It amazes myself and others that the modern thermostat can detect warm spots throughout the modern home & then drop the shades on that area. Simply knocking out the direct sun heating made a tremendous difference in the amount of time the Heating & Air Conditioning is working. I added another nice behavior by being certain that the air filter is changed every single month. The two of us also took a day & sealed all the cracks & gaps every one of us could find on the exterior of our home. These minor changes will supply us at least a 15 percent savings on that monster of a utility bill.
