My hubby as well as I were on a much-needed vacation earlier in the summer.
Our grown kids were looking after our place while we were gone.
There was a huge storm while we were gone. Our daughter and son-in-law had tried to get to our home to see if there was any property damage when the thunderstorm began to spew forth small tornadoes. The a single tornado went up and down our street. There were trees down everywhere as well as the power was expected to be out for quite a while. Losing power was the only result at my daughter’s house, however they had so far been unable to check on our home. We were going to come home right then, however she said no because the roads we impassable and they would take care of everything until we got back. We did chop our getaway time in half as well as when all of us returned, other than not having power, all of us couldn’t determine any other disfigure. We are upset about there not being air conditioner, because of a/c is pretty much necessary in the south where we live. My hubby had this gut feeling that there was something more going on than loss of power, though. He went outside to check the meter and discovered it was running, which meant we did have electricity. So why didn’t the a/c work? We turned on all of the lights only to find that some would work, while others would not. The TV wouldn’t come on, either. When my husband went to the cellar, he discovered the surge protection was burnt black. The surge protector was disconnecting the power supply to the Heating as well as Air Conditioning system, as well as half the lights and the TV. If the surge protector hadn’t done its job, our home could have caught on fire and we would have had a true disaster, not just no a/c for a day or two. We went out as soon as we could and got a new surge protector and turned the a/c on with glee.
