My Grandmother has a really small apartment so she just uses a blow-up mattress for guests whenever they visit.
I was planning a visit in August.
A month before our arrival, I called our Grandmother and we were talking about our trip… She was super excited, however, she told me that she is having trouble finding a mattress that doesn’t leak. She said she blows up the mattresses and they have lost air a few hours later. I told her we would figure it out when I arrived but I found it unusual that so many mattresses were leaking. Once I got to her apartment, I figured out the problem. It’s not the mattresses at all. It’s the a/c. My Grandmother keeps her condo at about 60 degrees at night and over 73 during the day. This temperature change is why the mattresses look love they’ve lost air. Thankfully, we were able to rectify the situation by just re-inflating the mattress. I then explained the reason to our Grandmother so that she would not waste a lot of money on current mattresses next time someone visits, however essentially, decreasing the air temperature swings how much air pressure is in the mattress… With the temperature control going up and down so harshly, there has no wonder that the mattress looked flat. I’m not sure Grandmother understood actually but I suppose she got the gist of it. You just have to re-inflate the mattress next time. Either that, or not turn your air conditioner so low at night. I have to say, I was chilly.
