The AC froze up when it was 105 outside

The AC is a machine that works hard to keep your home cool.

The AC uses refrigerant to cool the air inside of your home.

As the air moves through the machine, it is cooled by the refrigerant and then introduced back into your home using the air duct system. When it’s extremely hot and humid outside, the AC unit can’t work well past a certain point. If you run the AC unit too hard, it will often freeze up and no longer work. There is no way to cure a problem with a frozen AC. The AC unit has to be turned off and then all of the ice needs to melt. I do my best to keep this problem from happening frequently. I always keep the air filter clean and free of debris. I also make sure to keep the temperature relatively comfortable but not too low. You can’t expect the air conditioner to work well when it’s 105°. My system froze up last tuesday, even though I was doing everything possible to make sure the AC could run well. Sometimes there really just isn’t anything that you can do. I turned off the machine and It took 3 hours for All of the ice to melt. We had a big puddle of water in the hallway by the air conditioner. Thank goodness we don’t have any rugs or carpet in the area. It would have been a much bigger mess if we would have been forced to clean the carpet after all of the trouble with the air conditioner.
