It is really hard to believe that I am a father! It seems like just yesterday that I was going to school, hanging out with my friends, and getting into trouble.
That was actually well over 30 years ago now.
It’s kind of sad when I think about how fast time has moved on, but, I am very pleased and proud to be a father! My kids are nearly grown and out of the house too. So that really tells my age! However, this last father’s day, both my wife and kids pulled together and did something really wonderful for me as a gift! I had been telling my wife that I wanted to upgrade the thermostat of our central heating and air conditioning system for quite some time now. I had my eyes on a smart thermostat. The whole idea of the smart thermostat made me want it even more! Not just for the energy savings, but because I am pretty lazy around the house. If I am watching the football game on TV, it would be really nice to not have to get up just to turn the temperature down on the thermostat. I could do it right from the couch through my smart phone app! My wife said that I was way too lazy, and that she would never want us having a smart thermostat. Well, this father’s day, her and my kids surprised me with a smart thermostat! I was totally floored by this! They even had the HVAC specialist pre-scheduled to install the smart thermostat the day after father’s day!
