I live in a studio apartment in a very bad neighborhood. Technically, it used to be a motel building for workers that would come into work on state projects during the winter. However, they have stopped doing that, and the motel rooms were being neglected until someone finally decided to open them up as apartment rooms for people with low income. Sadly, things didn’t turn out very well in my own life, and I found myself needing a cheap place to live, which is why I decided to live in one of these apartments. Thankfully, at least the rooms have HVAC units, even though there could be a lot said concerning whether or not these HVAC units are safe. Thankfully, the air conditioners in the room are pretty decent. Each of the rooms has window air conditioners, but the window air conditioners were installed in the wall inside of the window. However, the space where I live is small, so the only thing that I really need is the window air conditioner. The heating systems are a little more complicated. In the end, the heating systems are little more than a glorified space heater. The heating systems are obviously original with the house, and they seem very unsafe. My thoughts about them were correct when half of the building burnt down one day. The fire was caused by the thermostat on the heating system. Thankfully, this meant that we got an upgrade to our apartments. We also got new heating systems because the owners were not willing to risk a fire again.
