There is something about the holidays that really makes me give thanks for my own home and my immediate family.
That probably has something to do with the fact that I have to travel to other family during Christmas holiday.
And, I just hate that. I know that sounds all kinds of grinchy. But, it’s the truth. We always end up rotating between my parent’s place and my inlaw’s house. Neither place is where I want to be. And it mostly comes down to HVAC setting. Sure, I also don’t like that I can’t wake up in my own bed on Christmas day. That is something that really frosts me as well. However, since we have kids, we have to visit. For some reason, it appears to be completely unnatural for either set of parents to come to our area. Maybe stay in a hotel and come later on Christmas day? Yea, right. Instead, I have to drive north to the cold instead of enjoying the mild temperatures of home. But the worst is the fact that I have to deal with broiling inside temperatures no matter which place we land. HVAC settings for maximum heat are something that both sets of parents share. I mean it is ridiculous. By the time I get my first cup of coffee, I’m already sweating. The HVAC has to be set around 80 or higher in either place. By the time I get home, all I want to do is just stay still and enjoy my own place. It’s mine, with my rules and my HVAC setting.
