This time the cause of losing power was that a raccoon had climbed the power pole in our yard & chewed on the wires
In the northeast region where I live, the people I was with and I have fairly dire winters. We also have particularly hot & humid summers. Finally, the people I was with and I will often experience ice storms in the seasons between the two extremes due to the thawing & rechilly hot & cold temperatures. These temperature extremes make a reliable power supply more substantial than ever; However, the people I was with and I have lost power in each of the aforementioned seasons, then during ice storms, the entire area can lose power when broken, ice-laden tree branches fall on power lines. Once the people I was with and I had no heat for 3 afternoons, not to mention no hot water for the showers. Boy did the people I was with and I ever jump for delight when the people I was with and I heard the oil furnace turn on when the power was restored. In the summer, when the people I was with and I desperately need our a/c to be operating at full capacity, we’ve lost power from a lightning strike. If always amazes me that when the house gets hot & humid without the a/c it seems that being chilly in a house in the Wintertide without a oil furnace seems love a better scenario. Then there was the time that the power in our house went out however none of the neighbors lost theirs. I could hear their central a/cs humming away while the people I was with and I were perspiring out the wait until the power business showed up. This time the cause of losing power was that a raccoon had climbed the power pole in our yard & chewed on the wires. We found hid cold, dead body at the base of the pole. So as much as I hate to complain, there’s nothing love a high efficiency oil furnace to keep hot in the Wintertide & a top-notch a/c to keep cool in the summer.
