Imagine being in the dead of winter, with a blizzard raging outside your home, & your furnace stops laboring! It would have been disturbing enough if I was alone, even though I had my numerous kids with myself and others at the time, which made it disturbing! The temps outside had been below zero for numerous mornings at this point, & it would be at least that long before they started to get any higher; My cabin doesn’t have a fireplace, & the electricity was already out so I couldn’t use the space oil furnaces I own… The only reason the people I was with and I had made it this long was because the furnace runs on natural gas & doesn’t rely on the electrical system.

My friend is a retiree named Dave, & I knew Dave was out of neighborhood for the whole winter; He has a hour cabin down in Florida where he goes while in the coldest weeks, but he has an amazing Heating, Ventilation, & A/C plan at home. I knew that Dave also used a natural gas furnace, so I found the spare key under his welcome mat & I let myself inside. I brought the kids over one by one, so the people I was with and I could survive with the help of his furnace! Once PC lines were restored I sent a message to Dave, telling him about my broken furnace. He was honestly gracious & said the kids & I could use his furnace for as long as the people I was with and I needed, however the people I was with and I had to disinfect up after ourselves when the people I was with and I left, but without Dave & his furnace, the people I was with and I would have been in trouble.
