I never realized that building a house could involve so much stress. Most of the time when your house is being built, there is no lock on your door that is protecting your stuff from being stolen. While this is not usually a problem, it became a huge problem for the HVAC technicians and the electrician. The electrical wire needed to run a furnace and central air conditioner is quite thick, which means it has quite a bit of copper inside of the wire. The furnace and air conditioner were pretty far away from the electrical panel, which means that had to run a long line of this copper wire to run the furnace and air conditioner. During the night after the electrician installed all of this wire, someone broke into our house and removed all of the wire that the electrician just installed. The copper in the wire is valuable, and they stole it in order to scrap it at some metal place. When the HVAC technicians came the next day, they had to call the electrician and ask him where the wire was for the furnace and air conditioner. The electrician swore that the wire was there, but the HVAC technician affirmed that it wasn’t there. That is when they figured out that it was stolen. How desperate can someone be to steal the wire for someone else’s furnace in order to make a couple of bucks? He would have only been able to sell it for a fraction of the price to buy it new. I am sure the electrician and HVAC technician would have just paid him not to steal it because they had to cover the cost.
