I could be a closet admirer of all things technological but I am hardly an ardent disciple. The tech thing sort of came to me slowly over the years. To give some perspective, I was in high school when the floppy disk was a new thing. So, I have been able to watch a pretty full arc of the technological revolution. I did whatever I had to do to adapt to technology but I wasn’t out front learning about it on my own. I learned and understood the different operating systems that I was required to use for my career. Now, things are much, much different. Tech is everywhere in my life. From running the HVAC system to my smart phone, I depend on technology all the time. I do really love that smart thermostat I had installed not too long ago. It does just an incredible job of precisely managing the kilowatt consumption of our heating and cooling system. I can remember a few of my friends simply raving over this new style of thermostat. But, I was a bit more cautious given that all of those people would have bought the smart thermostat just for the phone app. And, I was more interested in what a smart thermostat could actually save me in real money. I wasn’t interested in the latest tech gimmick. So, I am very pleased to report that once I installed that smart thermostat it saved me 15 percent on my very next energy bill. While I have come to leaning on technology heavily over the years, I am not ashamed of it. This stuff really makes a difference in my everyday life.
