In my ignorance, I assumed that the condenser fan readily pulled air into my home through the metal grills.
Getting used to owning a home Yourself for the first time has been quite the transition. I spent the better portion of my whole life living in apartments plus condominiums where I was only McKinley responsible for the area within my unit. I had never mowed a lawn before plus frankly, was clueless when I was trying to buy a lawn mower. Thankfully for me the kind employee at my hardware store directed me quickly to a great push mower that was also on sale. But, this was just the beginning of my I’m going worries since my homeowners association also demands proper power washing each year on our driveways plus any stone walkways which are visible from the road. This was another expense I surely was not expecting in my transition to being a first time homeowner in town. There was the threat of pest plus insects as well. I do not particularly enjoy using pesticides because of the toxicity, although at the time I was more fearful of the abundance of the threat of termites plus carpenter ants in my immediate area. I gave in plus called myself an exterminator to spray along the perimeter of my house. But, when I accidentally saw him spraying near the condenser fan for the a/c, I nearly freaked out and started yelling. In my ignorance, I assumed that the condenser fan readily pulled air into my home through the metal grills. The knowledgeable and patient exterminator explained that the fan’s purpose is to properly cool the warm compressor inside the metal enclosure where the stored warm refrigerant is fed to after it leaves the air handler plus makes its way easily back outside. Therefore, no air is pulled indoors through a standard style Central Heating, Ventilation and A/C condenser. Because of this, it’s apparently technically safe to spray even mild pesticides around the metal condenser unit in your yard. Spraying anything indoors, especially near low lying air returns, is clearly a whole other question though, and I will do more research before committing to that procedure as well.
