Last night, we had the worst ice storm that I have ever experienced.
- I was on my way home from church when it started, but I still had a 45-minute drive home.
Towards the end of my drive, the road started getting bad, but we made it safely. Thankfully, our furnace was still working, and we were staying warm. However, during the middle of the night, the electricity stopped working, and that meant that our furnace stopped working as well. We had absolutely no heat for our house. Now, our house is small and poorly insulated, so we began to lose heat quickly. Without the furnace, it was only a matter of hours before our house reached the same temperature as outside. Thankfully, it wasn’t below freezing, because our water pipes would have been frozen, but it was cold, and we were miserable. Since there were so many fallen trees and icy roads, we weren’t able to get out of the house. With no furnace, we mainly bundled up for the entire day in bed and piled the blankets on top of us. After a few days, the roads cleared up a bit, and we went to our church to warm up for the day. The furnace was working at our church, and it was nice and warm there. After a bit, I went to planet fitness to workout and take a shower, since they had a working furnace and warm water as well. Our friends learned that we had no electricity still, and they offered to let us stay with them because they had electricity and a working furnace. The next day, our power came back on along with our furnace.
